On March 24, 2026, STEMAIVERSE co-founder Damien Aldridge was in Washington D.C. for a landmark moment in global education — First Lady Melania Trump's Fostering the Future Together Summit, held at the U.S. Department of State.

A Historic Gathering for Education and Technology

The Summit assembled leaders from 45 nations and 28 technology entities with a single goal: to form a global coalition aligned to empower children through education and technology. Fostering the Future Together is designed as a long-term initiative, and the energy in the room made clear this was just the beginning.

First spouses from Poland, Panama, Ukraine, Lithuania, Nigeria, Paraguay, Morocco, Kenya, Israel, and many more nations joined technology representatives from OpenAI, Microsoft, xAI, Meta, Palantir, Adobe, Google, and Zoom. The STEM Education Coalition was represented by senior policy advisor Jeff Weld.

The Day's Program

Doors opened at 8:30 AM with technology company exhibits throughout the State Department reception space — showcasing AI-assisted lessons, VR learning experiences, online learning management systems, and distance collaboration tools. STEMAIVERSE was among those engaging with attendees firsthand.

At 10:00 AM, First Lady Melania Trump welcomed attendees and framed the event as a historic opportunity to "foster the future together." She called for technology-driven partnerships in education worldwide, encouraged nation-leading peers to host regional meetings, and pushed for research and collaborations to usher in a new era for education.

Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, followed with a significant announcement: the March 20 release of the National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence. The Framework outlines legislative recommendations for Congress to create a uniform federal AI policy, and detailed the Administration's commitment to expanding AI in schools through funding from the Departments of Energy and Education and the National Science Foundation.

Four Urgencies Explored

The workshop phase — led by Monica Crowley, White House Chief of Protocol — explored four shared global urgencies:

  1. AI in Education — First spouses called for balancing innovation with safety, driving connectivity, and infusing digital experiences across the curriculum.

  2. EdTech — Secretary of Education Linda McMahon opened this session, with nations advocating for professional development for teachers, 1:1 devices, and equity in access.

  3. Digital Literacy — Themes included scaling STEAM, robotics and coding for all, guarding against digital divides, and ensuring economic growth is tied to children's e-literacy.

  4. Online Safety — Nations emphasized using technology to empower parents, eradicating online harassment, and responsible AI use.

Why This Matters for STEMAIVERSE

Every theme explored at the Summit sits at the heart of what STEMAIVERSE does every day — equipping students and educators with the tools, confidence, and critical thinking to thrive in a technology-driven world. Being in the room at this level of global conversation affirms that the work we do in classrooms across the country is part of something much larger.

We are proud to be part of this movement and look forward to contributing to the global coalition that Fostering the Future Together is building.
